Four Cascade systems at Hefei Wangxiaoying WTP successfully overhauled
In September 2025, four size-3 Cascade systems at the Hefei Wangxiaoying Wastewater Treatment Plant in China were successfully
overhauled and recommissioned.
The plant is the fi rst large-scale municipal wastewater treatment facility in Anhui Province and has relied on proven Bellmer technology since October 2014.
After twelve years of reliable operation, a comprehensive overhaul was necessary – and the results speak for themselves: all four machines are now running at full capacity, with all operating parameters restored to their original state. The plant fully meets the current requirements for wastewater treatment.
Technical highlights after the overhaul:
Throughput per machine: approx. 60 m³/h
Polymer consumption: only 3.9 g/kg TS
Sludge cake dry solids content: over 20 %

What’s behind the Cascade technology?
The Bellmer Cascade combines sludge thickening and dewatering in a single process step. This is a real advantage for plants dealing with varying sludge compositions and high demands for fl exibility and performance. An optimized roller confi guration and extended pressing times achieve particularly high dry solids content. At the same time, the innovative process control ensures low operating and energy costs, as well as easy handling and cleaning.
The Cascade is thus a cost-effi cient solution for demanding applications in municipal and industrial wastewater treatment.
