Rapid response ensures production continuity at Hans Kolb Paper Mill

An urgent damage report from Hans Kolb Paper Mill arrived on a Wednesday evening: the exhaust hood fan of the VTP system had completely failed due to severe impeller damage and had also caused major damage to the housing. As a result of the heavy condensate formation, the climate inside the production hall deteriorated significantly, severely affecting production. Immediate action was essential.

Already the following day, the dismantling of the defective exhaust tower was organized together with the customer under challenging conditions. At the same time, an intensive search for a suitable replacement fan was launched. The replacement unit arrived on Saturday and was extensively modified over the weekend in the workshop: the horizontal design was converted into a vertical configuration and optimally integrated into the existing system by means of a custom-designed transition duct.

By the following Tuesday, the fan had been installed and successfully commissioned. Thanks to the fast and well-coordinated efforts of Bellmer Hafner and the technical department of Hans Kolb Paper Mill, a plant shutdown was avoided and the paper machine remained in continuous production.
