Resource-saving sludge thickening at the Neufinsing wastewater treatment plant

Just last year, the expansion of the Neufinsing wastewater treatment plant in Bavaria to 200,000 population equivalents was completed. With this expansion, the joint municipal enterprise “Ver- und Entsorgung München Ost” (VEMO) reacted to the growth in the region. In a further step, the sludge treatment and energy management areas will be modernized. Investments in renewable energies and sustainable in-house power generation are the main criteria of the modernization program. For this purpose, a TurboDrain TDC 1 was selected for cost- and resource-saving use in sludge thickening. Since the beginning of the year, it has been thickening the waste activated sludge produced at a rate of 30 m³/h (max. 50 m³/h possible) to a final dry solid content >= 6 % DS at a pFM of only 2.5 g/kg DR. Numerous innovations have made the TurboDrain the market leader in belt thickeners.

Operators are particularly enthusiastic about the reliable operation, the excellent thickening results, and the easy operation and cleaning. The TurboDrain convinces with its multi-stage process and, thanks to its sophisticated design, has permanently low operating costs.
Compared to other systems, it requires only low drive power. Due to the installation site in the basement of the building, the thickener was brought in with an individual transport rack. The implementation and also the start-up went smoothly and the team in Neufinsing is very satisfied with the reliable new addition.
