With a population of around 112,000, Bellville is part of the metropolitan municipality of Cape Town, known as one of South Africa’s most popular regions. From the paths in the Tygerberg nature reserve, the view in Bellville extends across the peninsula to Table Mountain. A wealth of nature and species that must be preserved!
For more than 20 years, the Bellville wastewater treatment plant has relied on the effective Bellmer Separation Technology for sludge treatment. Until now, the excess sludge was dewatered by a Cascade consisting of a WinklePress WPN-K 3 and a TurboDrain as well as a WinklePress as a single unit.
In the course of a conversion to primary sludge dewatering, Bellville did not want to do without the proven Bellmer technology.
The two belt presses were therefore completely overhauled. A new odor hood, the modernization of the frame and the overhauled rolls let both presses shine in new splendor.

The rebuild project was implemented in close coordination between Bellville, our local partner TS Water and the Bellmer service team. Today, the completely overhauled belt presses achieve a final dry solids content > 30% in dewatering the primary sludge.
The Bellville team and the City of Capetown are more than satisfied with the results.
