Fourth Bellmer headbox installed at Vreden Paper Mill – Installation of the Top Wire Section of PM3 to improve quality and expand production
Another joint project between Bellmer and the Vreden Paper Mill has been successfully completed. The focus was on the construction of the top wire section of PM3, including the installation of a new TurboJetter headbox with integrated TurboSuspender. This combination ensures an even distribution of the stock flow – even in cases of irregular speed profiles in the feed, for example caused by pipe bends. The TurboJetter enables a homogeneous cross-profi le and excellent formation during sheet formation. The specially designed geometry of the diffuser elements, tailored to production require-ments, effectively breaks down microflocs in the suspension. The result: signifi cantly improved sheet structure and enhanced paper quality.
Vreden Paper Mill produces high-quality corrugated base papers from 100% recycled fi ber and is a pioneer in sustainability. With a closed water circuit, self-generated electricity, and heat recovery, the company sets benchmarks in resourceeffi cient paper produc-tion. The PM3 upgrade was completed on schedule and smoothly.
Shortly after commissioning, paper quality improvements were already evident.
The successful and timely start-up is also the result of strong teamwork – both on the part of Vreden Paper Mill and Bellmer.
With the new headbox, Vreden Paper Mill now has a total of four Bellmer headboxes – located at the top and bottom wires of its two paper machines. Jens Bußmann, Technical Director of Vreden Paper Mill, emphasizes: “Bellmer has been a reliable partner for us for many years, understanding our requirements and implementing them with excellent technical expertise. The goal of the PM3 project was to improve paper quality and ex-pand production for Kraftliner replacement – a goal that has been impressively achieved with the new top wire section.
