Startup of a sludge dewatering line at Stora Enso Enocell

Smooth start-up with good dewatering results

The Stora Enso Enocell pulp mill is located in eastern Finland. The mill produces long and short fibre pulp from birch, pine and spruce wood. Part of this pulp is used as raw material for textiles production while the remainder is used in paper production. In addition, the site has its own wastewater treatment plant, which treats wastewater from the pulp mill as well as municipal  wastewater.

This year, the customer invested in a new sludge dewatering line consisting of an FR3 flocculation reactor, AKSE S 175/05 thickener and BX 400 LL-H screw press for primary sludge.
The startup of the machines and employee training took place in December. The first results of the pressed material were up to 50% DS.
The sludge dewatering line start-up was smooth and the customer was very satisfied with the results.
