Gentle Juicing of the superfruit Acerola

A Brazilian customer of Bellmer Kufferath in the state of Pernambuco (Northeast Brazil) processes acerola fruit into concentrates and powders with a very high vitamin C content. The previous dejuicing technology left a comparatively large quantity of juice in the residue. With a view to increasing the juice yield, the new AKUPRESS F 500 screw press developed by Bellmer Kufferath has been used downstream of the primary dejuicing process since November 2023. The design of this product line meets the most stringent hygiene standards and allows for easy cleaning during plant shutdowns. The fi nely perforated screen baskets ensure maximum retention of fruit fi bres, while the operator is able to control the process very closely via the speed and counter pressure on the cone and thus achieve the optimum dry content in the pressed material. Already in the very fi rst days of start-up, the customer managed to achieve a signifi cant increase in the juice yield and a high level of product quality. The dry content of the residue rose to over 50 %.
